Believe Playschool Childcare Ultimo

Our Emotional Resilience Program supports children to understand their emotions, regulate their responses and build confidence in social situations. At Believe Playschool, emotional development is viewed as a foundation for all learning, wellbeing and positive relationships.
We intentionally teach children the skills they need to manage big feelings, communicate respectfully and navigate social experiences with confidence and empathy.
Why Emotional Resilience Matters
Children experience a wide range of emotions as they grow. When they are supported to understand and manage these emotions, they are better able to learn, form friendships and cope with challenges.
Emotional resilience helps children to:
- recognise and name emotions
- manage frustration and disappointment
- recover from setbacks
- approach new situations with confidence
- build positive relationships
These skills are essential for long-term wellbeing and success at school and beyond
Supporting Emotional Regulation
Emotional regulation does not develop automatically. It is a skill that children learn over time through guidance, modelling and consistent support.
Our program focuses on:
- identifying emotional triggers
- learning calming strategies
- understanding body signals
- developing self-soothing techniques
- building impulse control
Educators support children in the moment, helping them practise regulation strategies during real-life situations.
Building Social Confidence
Social situations can be challenging, particularly for shy, sensitive or introverted children. Our Emotional Resilience Program supports children to build confidence in group settings and peer interactions.
Children are guided to:
- initiate and maintain friendships
- communicate needs and boundaries
- resolve conflict respectfully
- take turns and cooperate
- develop empathy and perspective-taking
Through gentle guidance and repeated practice, children develop the confidence to engage positively with others.
Guided Behaviour Support
At Believe Playschool, behaviour is viewed as communication. Our educators take an active role in guiding behaviour rather than ignoring or reacting to it.
This includes:
- clear expectations
- calm, consistent responses
- teaching alternative behaviours
- supporting emotional understanding
- reinforcing positive interactions
Anti-social behaviour is addressed through teaching and support, ensuring children learn appropriate ways to express themselves.
Consistency and Predictability
Children feel safest when expectations are consistent. Our Emotional Resilience Program is embedded throughout the day so children receive the same guidance, language and support across different situations.
Predictable routines and consistent responses help children feel secure and supported as they develop self-regulation skills.
